About the Society

The Society was founded in 1968. Its objective is to stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the township of Rainhill.

A committee of about 15 members organises a programme of events each year which includes talks, outside trips and practical projects to improve the environment in the Township.

An important task is to monitor all planning applications relating to the area and to send comments on these applications to the planning authority.

Each year the Society organises Rainhill in Bloom, a competition for the best gardening display in a front garden. Every year an increasing number of entrants hopes to win the Rosebowl presented to the Society by the Rainhill Parish Council
